Sir Roger Moore has made an urgent plea for additional humanitarian aid on behalf of Syrian refugees in an emotional new video for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The former James Bond star made the promotional clip in his role as the charity's Goodwill Ambassador to raise awareness and funds for the women and children who have had to flee their homes to escape the fighting as the harsh Syrian winter looms.

In the video, Sir Roger said: "Children are paying the highest price. They are dying, they are hurt and they need healing. With winter setting in - things will get harder.

"UNICEF is there on the ground in Syria and the neighbouring countries setting up schools, getting in water and critical supplies and helping children be children again."

Moore has worked tirelessly with UNICEF for more than 20 years and last month was awarded the charity's highest accolade, the inaugural UK Lifetime Achievement Award, in honour of his efforts.
