Shelley, who was in the bottom two last week but was saved by the judges, faced-off against boyband Kingsland Road and performed Sam Brown's 'Stop' for the panel.
Groups mentor Gary Barlow told her she sang "extremely well" but chose to save his own act from elimination.
Nicole Scherzinger also praised the singer for her "infectious and lovable" personality, but she felt Kingsland Road had further to go in the competition.
With Louis Walsh the last Judge to vote, Sharon begged her close friend to save her act by showering him with kisses and offering to do anything for his support.
But Louis was not to be bought and said that while it was an amazing sing-off, Kingsland Road - who performed Pink's 'Try' after being placed in the bottom two following Saturday's shock flash-vote result - had the "most potential".
You have a schamazing personality.

Speaking to host Dermot O'Leary following the result, Shelley said: "I have had the time of my life and I will keep singing."
Upset at losing another act two weeks in a row, Sharon told him she was "absolutely gutted" with the result.
During Saturday's main programme Shelley, who was celebrating her birthday, performed a rendition of Beyonce's 'Single Ladies' for the love and heartache themed show.
The Judges praised her efforts but Gary told her he felt it was the wrong song choice for her.
Sunday's results show opened with a group performance from the 11 finalists who sang Aviccii's 'Wake Me Up'.
Chart superstar Katy Perry also performed her hit single 'Roar', while Robin Thicke sang his huge summer anthem 'Blurred Lines' before the dramatic sing-off.
Next week the remaining 10 acts will perform again for the X Factor Judges in a movie themed show.
The X Factor returns to UTV on Saturday and Sunday from 8pm.
