A second award-winning Irish film has been shortlisted for an Oscar nomination.

The Door by Dubliner Juanita Wilson is one of ten short features battling it out for the coveted Best Short Film Live Action category Academy Award.

Last week Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty was shortlisted in the animated short film section, alongside films by Wallace and Gromit makers Aardman Animations and the Disney-owned Pixar, world-renowned for Toy Story and Finding Nemo.

The Door is set in Russia in 1986 and details the tragedy of the Chernobyl disaster through the eyes of one man.

The film has already scooped a clutch of awards including the Irish Film and Television Award for Best Short Film and a Best Director prize at the Grand OFF, World OFF Awards in Warsaw, Poland.

The final five nominations for the prestigious award will be announced in early February.

Ms Wilson is currently directing her debut feature film As If I Am Not There with funding from the Irish Film Board.

Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty is a six-minute computer animation featuring Ireland's bitterest grandmother - Granny O'Grimm, 74, of Ballymulch - as she tells the tale of Sleeping Beauty to her small granddaughter.
