Seamus McGarvey has been nominated in the Cinematography category of the Academy Awards for his work on the period piece Anna Karenina starring Kiera Knightly.
Other nominations in the category include Django Unchained, Life of Pi, Lincoln and Skyfall.
It's the second time McGarvey, from Armagh city, will grace the red carpet after he was previously shortlisted for his work on 2008 film Atonement.
When the nominations were announced earlier this year, Seamus said he sat in stunned silence in his apartment before letting out a "huge yell of joy".
He said he was looking forward to meeting his fellow nominees at Sunday night's awards show in Hollywood's Dolby Theatre and catching up with the cast and crew of Anna Karenina.
Earlier this year Seamus won the photography award in the Irish Film and Television awards, however, at the BAFTAs, he lost out to Ang Lee's life of Pi.
Meanwhile, Co Kerry producer Fodhla Cronin O'Reilly's short animation Head Over Heels has also been nominated in the Best Animated Short Film category. O'Reilly shares the nomination with director Timothy Reckart.
It's her first Oscar nomination for the animation, which sees a married couple live on opposite sides of their house, one lives on the ceiling - the other on the floor.
However, English-born, Irish domicile Daniel Day-Lewis is hotly tipped to make Academy Award history by taking his third best actor award for his work on the Spielberg epic Lincoln.
Other nominees in the category include Bradley Cooper, Joaquin Phoenix, Danzel Washington, and Hugh Jackman.
