X Factor contestant Rylan Clark belts out Hung Up by Madonna (© Rex Features)
Singer songwriter Spraggan withdrew from the talent show after failing to recover from illness.
She had been unable to perform the week before, when she was given a free pass, but told her supporters it would not be fair on others in the competition for that to happen again.
Opening the show on Saturday, controversial contestant Rylan dedicated his performance of Madonna hit Hung Up to the 20-year-old.
He said mid-song: "This one is for you Spraggan, I love you!"
Judge Gary Barlow said: "I did enjoy your shout out to Lucy, well done for that, but I have a feeling that may be your last performance on the X Factor."
Lucy's mentor Tulisa Contostavlos said it will not be the last we hear from her.
"She's just an amazing person to work with. I'm going to miss her very much," she added.
"We are still in touch, this is not the end of Lucy or the last you are going to see of her ... big, big things to come. I just want to send her all my love."
