Prince William and Catherine, Duchess Of Cambridge have helped to raise $1m (£625,000) for charity after hosting a special dinner in London.

The royal couple welcomed guests to the 100 Women in Hedge Funds gala at St James's Palace on Thursday night to benefit the Child Bereavement Charity, of which the prince is a patron.

During the event, the second-in-line to the British throne thanked guests for their generous donations saying: "What you are both doing together to alleviate the suffering of children who have lost family members, and bereaved families who have experienced the tragedy of losing a child, is beyond praise."
