The 22-year-old singer is making a big impression on the local music scene, and has attracted a whole new generation of country fans across the UK and Ireland.

Born in Liverpool and with family from Co Fermanagh, his musical career began at the age of four when he took up accordion and started winning traditional singing competitions from the age of seven.

Fans can expect to hear his popular hit Wagon Wheel as well as others including One for the Road and Caledonia.

Carter's performance at Dalriada Live on Sunday 14 July is at the end of a week long programme of sport, music and food at the grounds of the historic site.

Adrian Morrow, Glenarm Castle Estates Managing Director, said: "What a privilege it is to announce that Dalriada Live as part of the P&O Ferries Dalriada Festival will headline with the rising, young star of country music Nathan Carter.

"With his star set to reach global status we would advise fans to get along to the event and see him in this intimate capacity."

Running from Saturday 13 to Saturday 20 July, the festival will see the return of the Highland Games, where strongmen from across the British Isles will go head-to-head to prove their strength.

Fine foods, celebrity chef demonstrations, live music and dancing and children's entertainment will also be in store across the week.

The castle is home to the Viscount and Viscountess Dunluce and their family. It has been owned by the McDonnell family since it was built in 1636.

It is still a family home which is not always open to the public and during the festival there will be opportunities to take a guided tour of the estate.

Michael Wilson, Managing Director of UTV, which is supporting the festival said: "UTV is delighted to join forces once again with the P&O Ferries Dalriada Festival in Glenarm which promises to deliver a fabulous weekend for all the family this July.

"We look forward to capturing the essence of the activities taking place on the North Coast of Antrim on UTV for all our viewers, with regular updates online on u.tv and interviews on U105."
