The actor was crowned the winner of the all-star final series of the ice skating show on Sunday after being pitted against Coronation Street actress Hayley Tamaddon and performing the famous Bolero with partner Maria Fillipov.

Speaking to This Morning on Monday, Ray said he felt it was a fantastic final show and a great way to end Dancing On Ice.

"The result was amazing, but the show itself, everybody pulled it out of the bag last night it was absolutely fantastic.

"And what a way to end the show, it went out with a bang for sure."

Despite being touted as the clear winner from the beginning of the series, Ray appeared to be in disbelief when Phillip Schofield announced that the public had voted him as the winner.

Ray explained: "We put our all into our performances and that was all that we could do, the result was completely out of our hands and that was the worrying thing.

"I was just thinking: "Whatever happens, we have had a great time."

"But yeah, it was a proper shock."

And now he is the Dancing On Ice victor, Ray said he was planning to continue on the ice.

"I am just so thankful for the opportunity," he said. "And skating as a sport, for me, is such a passion. My biggest regret the first time was not carrying on the skating, but I will definitely continue with it now."
