It was third time unlucky for X Factor hopeful Rachel Adedeji on Sunday.

While the public voted twins John and Edward through to the next round, Rachel received the lowest votes and faced her third sing-off.

Singing for her survival, Rachel delivered a perfect rendition of Stop Crying Your Heart out by Oasis. Then, Lloyd Daniels battled through You Are So Beautiful.

Dannii and Louis opted to save Rachel, and Cheryl stuck by Lloyd.

Judge Simon Cowell said Rachel sang much better than Lloyd, who was suffering from a sore throat.

But Cowell said he could not ignore her lack of popularity with the public and used his vote to create a tie, which meant the decision rested solely on viewers' votes.

Tears rolled down Rachel's cheeks when she was told she was leaving the show.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported me," she said.

"It's been amazing and I got to meet so many lovely people and work with great judges."

She told her mentor Dannii Minogue: "You're amazing."

All nine acts got the results show off to a rocking start with a group performance of Walk This Way, before Bon Jovi performed their new single We Weren't Born To Follow.

JLS also returned to the show as double MOBO winners intent on stealing the No1 spot from Cheryl Cole with their new single Everybody In Love.
