The outspoken music manager left the UK version of the hit series in 2008 following personality clashes with fellow judge Dannii Minogue, insisting she quit because she feared Simon Cowell would replace her with someone younger.
Osbourne regrets leaving the job behind, but admits she had to walk away.
She says: "It was a dumb move, but emotionally right. It was a huge show, it paid so well, so much came from it.
"But I wasn't happy, so I walked away with dignity. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction. He always wants someone young (...) sat next to him."
