Thousands of music fans packed the open-air venue for what was the fifth night of the festival.

The band treated gig-goers to a mix of their classic and newer material.

The set list included tracks like the band's big hit, the Grammy-nominated No One Knows from their album Songs for the Deaf, and ...Like Clockwork from the 2013 album of the same name.

There was also support from Australian singer-songwriter Brody Dalle and Dubliners The Minutes.

Previous headliners at this year's event have included Example, Biffy Clyro, Kodaline and CHIC.

All the acts seem to have enjoyed themselves, taking to Twitter to thank fans and the city of Belfast.

"What a wonderful and inspiring night," Biffy Clyro tweeted. "Thank you so, so much. We loves ya!"

Example added: "Belsonic, Belfast. What a lovely time."

And Nile Rodgers declared: "They sure know how to party in Belfast!"

Imagine Dragons will close Belsonic, which is in its seventh year, on Friday night.
