Rapper Professor Green has undergone tests in hospital to find out whether a lump on his head is cancerous.

Professor Green in cancer scare

The hip-hop star checked into a medical facility on Friday to have the mysterious lump removed, just hours before he was due to take the stage for a gig.

The Read All About It hitmaker kept fans updated throughout his ordeal in a series of messages on Twitter.

He writes: "So today consists of (getting) the sat nav (sic) updated, getting a lump cut out of my head and performing at Pilton fair... Hope having this thing in my head cut out isn't too much of a bother... Not an ideal start to my day. Got the pre anaesthetic on my head so the injection doesn't hurt as much apparently... We'll see."

He later revealed doctors will be running tests to find out whether the lump was cancerous, adding: "A 5mm x 5mm lymph node. Now all I can hope is it isn't cancerous. Won't know until Thursday."

However, Green refused to let his hospital visit interfere with his schedule and he took to the stage as planned to perform at the Pilton Party at Worthy Farm in Somerset, south west England, the site of the famous Glastonbury festival.

After the gig, he revealed the performance had cheered him up, adding: "Pilton Party thank you! For that hour I didn't even think about all the s*** going on - you lot were amazing! Thank you!!!"
