Model-turned-reality TV star Katie Price has warned young women of the dangers of having breast implants, insisting it's a "big risk" to undergo cosmetic surgery.

Price warns of breast implant dangers

The British star began her media career as a topless model and had several bust-boosting operations before undergoing further surgery to reduce her chest size.

Thousands of women in the UK are feared to be potentially at risk from substandard breast implants manufactured by defunct French company Poly Implant Prostheses - and Price has joined the debate over the issue of cosmetic surgery, warning women to think it through before volunteering to go under the knife.

She also called for the British Government to impose a minimum age requirement for breast implant surgery.

Price tells BBC current affairs show Newsnight: "If I had my way, I think there should be an age limit for a start. I think they should up it to 21. I had my first boob job when I was 18, and realistically I think that's a bit too young, to be honest.

"I think any procedure is risky, of course it is - you're going under the knife, it's anaesthetic, and I think people should know - whether it's a boob job or any cosmetic surgery, if you're going under the knife it's a big risk."
