Singer Peter Andre claimed he had "no idea" ex-wife Katie Price and her boyfriend Alex Reid were planning to tie the knot after the couple married in Las Vegas on Tuesday night.
The model and her cage fighter beau tied the knot in a "private, simple" ceremony in the US resort.
The newlyweds said in a statement: "We are very much in love and look forward to the future together. We can't wait to get back and celebrate our marriage with our friends and family who we know fully support our wishes."
Katie, 31, who split from Andre in May last year, has been dating Alex, 34, for around seven months.
Much of their relationship has been played out in public thanks to a string of TV appearances and extensive newspaper coverage.
A statement from the couple's publicist said: "Their decision to marry has not been made with any pre-conceived commercial plan or media deal in place, and their reason for getting married is purely down to their love for each other."
Earlier mother-of-three Katie - also known as Jordan - used a magazine interview to reveal she had plans to marry Alex, who last week was crowned winner of Celebrity Big Brother.
In an interview with OK!, she declared: "This year I will marry Alex and I'm going to have his kids."
Asked if she would become Katie Reid, she said: "I'll change my passport, my cheque book, everything."
The couple were pictured in a Las Vegas jewellery store before the ceremony, and are also reported to have secured a £1m deal for exclusive pictures of their wedding.
Andre said: "As long as they're happy, great."
The singer told The Chris Moyles Show he had no negative feelings and all he cared about was his children.
He received the news during an autograph signing session in Basildon, Essex, on Tuesday night.
Andre said: "I got the call and I thought, great, just before I go on to Chris Moyles tomorrow. I had no idea this was planned."
He said: "I've always said this for the kids, I'm amicable. You can never let them know things that they don't need to know.
"Do you know what, honestly, I've thought about this, as long as there's a good influence to those kids then I'm happy.
"I don't have any negative feelings inside me.
"As long as they're happy, great. As long as they're a good influence on my kids that's all I care about.
