The salsa dancing duo were set to appear during Saturday's live semi-final.

But after seeking medical advice Paddy, 79, has been told she is not fit to perform.

Amanda said: "I'm devastated Paddy and Nico won't be dancing in the finals. Ever since I first saw Paddy dance I fell in love with her.

"I was so looking forward to her and Nico wowing us with another amazing routine in the semi-finals and I really think she could have won the whole show.

"The most important thing though is that she makes a speedy recovery and gets back to living life to the full."

During their initial BGT audition, Paddy and Nico wowed the judges and the audience with a high energy dance routine which involved numerous twists, turns and instances of throwing Paddy in the air.

Amanda was so impressed with the duo she immediately hit her golden buzzer, giving them a free pass to the semi-finals, telling them: "My grandmother is 93-years-old and I just kept thinking of her when you were being thrown around and I think she would have wanted me to press my buzzer for you."

It's a pity, I reckon the queen would have loved them and they could have won the show. She was fitter than most people a third of her age.
