A host of film and television professionals are supporting the ground-breaking production, including actors Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan.

Oscar-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes will also help to develop the script.

Casting directors and Cinemagic patrons, Ros and John Hubbard, are launching the search for young NI talent from 6- 8 June in Ballymena, Belfast and Newry.

A number of roles are expected to be cast, including the lead role of Noelle, who is described as between 9-12 years old and "an interesting and different" girl who is a "bit of a tomboy".

The production is also looking to fill the role of 14-15 year old Junior, who is "a brat and a show off" as well as "a bit of a snob".

The open casting calls for young females aged 9-12 and young males aged 9-15 will take place on Friday 6 June from 3.30pm - 7.00pm in The Braid: Ballymena Town Hall, Museum & Arts Centre, Ballymena; Saturday 7 June from 10.00am - 4.00pm in The Europa Hotel, Belfast, and on Sunday 8 June from 12pm - 6pm in the Canal Court Hotel, Newry.

Casting for further roles are expected to be announced over the coming months. Full information can be found via the Cinemagic website.

Cinemagic Chief Executive, Joan Burney Keatings, MBE said: "We are honoured to have support from Hubbard Casting and we are delighted to be embarking on the first set of auditions for the film.

"We look forward to meeting lots of young budding actors who will get the chance to audition for one of the top casting agents in the UK and Ireland."

The production will be Northern Ireland's first ever Christmas feature film made by young people.

The professional filmmakers involved in the production will mentor young people throughout the process, giving insights to the world of cinema and sharing their experience to help develop young people's skills.
