Sinead O'Connor's last-minute Womad set helped give festival bosses their first sell-out in seven years over the weekend.

O'Connor helps WOMAD bosses sell out

Organisers of England's annual world music gathering were left scrambling for a third headliner when Bobby Womack passed away last month, and they were thrilled when O'Connor agreed to close the festival on Sunday night.

Her spot led to WOMAD's first sell-out since the event relocated to Wiltshire from Reading in 2007.

As a result, over 40,000 music fans attended the four-day festival, which also featured performances by Youssou N'Dour, Richard Thompson and Manu Dibango.
