The Nolans star put off becoming a mother to focus on her showbiz career, but now wishes she had taken the time to start a family of her own.
She told The Lancashire and North West magazine: "I never had children of my own. It was my own fault. I put my career first and, in the end, it was too late. That's something I deeply regret."
Now the 53-year-old wants to become a foster parent and take children into her care.
She added: "I hope I will be given the chance to show some children that people can love you and that you can feel safe and happy with the adults who look after you.
"All children should feel that - I certainly did - but sadly, it's not the case for some."
