Former Westlife star Nicky Byrne has landed his own radio show in Ireland.

Nicky Byrne lands radio show

The singer will present a new mid-morning show on 2FM after taking over from DJ Colm Hayes, who is moving to a different time slot.

Byrne is not new to radio in Ireland - he presented the Celebrity Sunday show on 2FM in 2010 and filled in for regular host Ryan Tubridy last year.

He said: "The thought of being on air Monday to Friday is daunting but very, very exciting.

"It is a massive opportunity for me, one in which I hope I can deliver on. Now it's time to start planning, developing and presenting my new show and I really can't wait to get chatting to our listeners."
