Nicholas has been a favourite to win the 2013 title throughout the series, but has always faced stiff competition from mum-of-two Sam.
"I'm going out there with everything I have and I will be giving it my all," the young singer said.
"Sam has been consistently amazing the whole way through this series and she has had some great songs to sing. I think she has been my biggest competitor and still is.
"I didn't think I've made it this far, but now I'm here, I want to go all the way."
For his celebrity duet, Nicholas will perform a rendition of Westlife's Flying Without Wings with former member Shane Filan.
The 17-year-old said he was "overwhelmed and honoured" to be singing with the star, but he explained it will be quite a while before he ever feels he has made it as big.
"I definitely don't feel like a star yet," he admits. "And actually, it doesn't really matter how famous I may get - I wouldn't change for the world, because I have such a strong family behind me. They will also keep me grounded."
"I doubt I'd really take it all in unless I get to the stage where I'm performing at Madison Square Garden or at the casinos in Vegas," he insists.
The X Factor final airs on UTV on Saturday from 8pm and Sunday from 7.30pm.
