While Jack and Sophie remain the most popular first names for children whose births were registered in 2012, there have been a few surprising entries on the list.
It seems new mums and dads have been paying attention to more than just music on the X Factor, as we welcomed babies Tulisa, Jahmene, Rylan and Jonjo this year.
Some other well-known faces proved inspirational with girls named Miley, Myleene, Pippa and Shiloh - with namesakes such as actress Miley Cyrus, TV personality Myleene Klass, Pippa Middleton, sister of Princess Catherine, and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, daughter of Angelina and Brad.
Reality TV's well-known American family the Kardashians made an impact on the list too, with the alliterative Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie all appearing.
The name of Victoria Beckham's young daughter Harper is on the list, as are those of her three sons - Cruz, Romeo and Brooklyn - which leads us neatly on to place names, which were a hit with both boys and girls.
Baby boys Cairo, Denver, Houston, Hudson, and Kuba were registered in 2012, while girls had monikers including London, Miami, Nevadah, Paris and Savannah.
The parents of Anakin and Kal-el may have been hoping their children would emulate other famous folk of the same name - better known as Darth Vader and Superman.
But back with the more traditional names, James was in second place for the second year running, while Daniel became the third most popular boys name.
Emily and Grace took second and third place on the girls list while Julia, Ciara and Victoria all fell out of the top 100 names.
