It has been exactly four years since he cheeky chappy finished in second place against Joe McElderry in the X Factor final and chart success soon beckoned as he boasts three triple platinum albums, four UK No1 singles, and a successful tour with Robbie Williams.
But with Gary ready to hang up his judging hat, would Olly be tempted to take over, especially considering he already has the experience of presenting The Xtra Factor?
Speaking to This Morning's Phillip and Holly, he said: "I love TV, I miss that. I just wanted music to be the focus this year and it has been, and next year everyone is talking about me being a judge on X Factor.
"I would love to do it, but at the same time, music is where I want to focus. I want to win BRITs, I want to have am massive next album, number ones and all that."
"I would love to do it. If (Simon Cowell) put an offer on the table I would definitely look at it, but for me its music. I love TV, it's amazing, but to try and juggle two, I did it two years ago when I was first on Xtra Factor, and it was so tough."
Olly has spent this past year on the road with his good friend Robbie Williams, supporting the singer on his huge European stadium tour.
"I learnt so much about myself as a performer, but when you are around someone as great as him, and the experience that he brings... you learn so much just watching him on stage," he said.
"And just being around him, having a laugh with him and getting an idea of the industry.
"My career is very different to Rob's in the sense of how I started into it compared to him when he was in Take That."
