Murdoch cancels party to mourn mother

Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, 103, died at the family's home in Melbourne, Australia earlier this week.

The 20th Century Fox boss had scheduled a cocktail party at his New York home for Lee and various movie executives for Wednesday, but the bash was cancelled.

The movie adaptation of Jann Martel's bestseller has already been a big hit for Murdoch's film empire - it has grossed more than £50m internationally.
