The five members of the group have garnered a legion of young female devotees, but it's their fans' mums who are the most obsessed.
Singer Liam Payne tells The Sun newspaper: "The mums are fearless. They will grab and pinch and it gets quite tricky ..."
Co-star Zayn Malik added: "They suggest things."
But fellow band member Harry Styles, 18 - who split from 32-year-old TV host Caroline Flack earlier this year - is less afraid of older women, admitting: "I would not have a problem as long as they were nice and made me smile."
