Michelle Keegan prepares for Tina's exit

As actress Michelle Keegan gets ready to leave Coronation Street, she reveals the build up for her character Tina McIntyre's "biggest storyline ever".

"This is her departure from Coronation Street after six and a half long years," she said."The drama is really heating up for Tina now."With Peter Barlow back from rehab, Tina finds she still can't bear to be apart from him, no matter what it is doing to Peter's sobriety or his marriage to Carla.Michelle explains: "Tina still loves Peter even though he is still self-destructing. She wants to be part of Peter's life, but obviously because he's not ready to leave Carla yet, she still wants to look after him."Drink makes Peter very volatile and unpredictable, you don't know what mood he is going to be in from one day to the next."And the more Tina tries to be around Peter, the more chance there is of Carla finding out about their affair..."Carla doesn't understand why Peter has turned to drinking again, she doesn't know or understand what has happened for him to do that."And I think Tina and Peter are trying to keep it under wraps as long as they can."But it is not just her relationship with Peter that Tina has to worry about."At the same time as her trying to look after Peter...there's also another feud that goes on with Tracy (Barlow) and Rob (Donovan)."Tina knows that Tracy and Rob are up to no good and, because there's a bit of history and a bit of banter between them, she winds them up by taking pictures of them. She knows they are doing dodgy deals and she thinks that's hilarious."Michelle describes the current situations that Tina finds herself in as "a big spider's web" and it is only going to get more complicated for her character. She said: "It is getting really, really messy at the minute and Tina is right at the centre of it."Rob is Carla's brother, Tracy is Peter's sister, Rob is going out with Tracy, Carla is going out with Peter - there's just so many links!"So the next couple of weeks are going to be the biggest drama so far, not only this year on Coronation Street, but what I've ever done on Coronation Street and I'm really excited."I just want to do it and I want to smash it."Coronation Street airs on UTV every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7.30pm.
