Michelle announced last month that she would be leaving the long-running soap after nearly three years on the famous cobbles.
"I have asked them not to kill me off," she told This Morning's Eamonn and Ruth.
"You can never say never, situations change and circumstances change."
The actress explained that staying in the programme long term was never part of her future plans and she is happy to leave the drama of Coronation Street behind for now.
"I said I would probably stay for three years and my three years are up," she said.
"I want to pursue other things, but fundamentally I want to be a mum again and my (daughter) has got two more years left at school and I need to be around a bit more for her.
"I don't know my exit storyline; it's about eight months away, so they will probably start planning that from October."
In Coronation Street, Stella is currently preparing to marry killer Karl, who torched the Rovers earlier in the year and cold-heartedly abandoned dying Sunita.
Unbeknown to Stella, Karl is planning on fleeing to Spain with his new bride as soon as the wedding is over, and he is not planning to return.
