The star took up martial arts to play an espionage operative for a private intelligence agency in upcoming series Hunted, and the training left George battered and bruised.

As a result, she still experiences issues with her hip and right hand, but George is delighted with her new skills.

She tells TV Magazine: "I spent months learning a martial art called Keysi and I got seriously injured a couple of times.

"I still can't close my right hand and my hip is damaged, so I can't get out of a car like I used to. But I can kill a man with my bare hands. I frighten myself nowadays."

Hunted debuts in Britain on Thursday.
