The Jamaican runner landed a new Olympic record time of 9.63 seconds for the 100-metre sprint at the Olympic Stadium in east London on Sunday night, and Chisholm, who earned herself the nickname during her time in the Spice Girls, was delighted to encounter Bolt.
The pair posed for a picture, which the singer uploaded to her Twitter page with the caption: "Just showing off! He was very excited to meet Sporty Spice!"
Bolt's record-breaking run impressed a string of stars, who took to their Twitter accounts to congratulate him. British singer Alexandra Burke tweeted: "So happy for Usain Bolt and for Jamaica!! Yessssss!!", while actor Dominic Monaghan confessed: "Anyone else want to do a little wee because it's the 100m final Olympics 2012 I love the Bolt man."
The athlete also logged onto the microblogging site after his run and declared: "Thanks to all the fans for supporting and believing. You have been a part of the journey."
