The British band hit the road Stateside for a series of shows, but Meighan admits he found it difficult to handle being so far away from his girlfriend Kim, who was pregnant with their daughter Mimi.
He told The Sun: "I had a meltdown. Not a complete breakdown, but I just lost it through the realisation of what was going on in my life.
"I went a bit mad for a couple of days. I panicked. I've never had that before. And I was at breaking point. But the band were there for me and crying helps.
"I cry a lot and I'm not ashamed to say that, but America was hard. It was nine weeks of non-stop touring. But we're doing all right there now, so it was worth it and we're going back there in the autumn."
However, Meighan is relishing every moment of being a new dad, adding: "Wow what can I say? She's unbelievable. Becoming a father has opened my eyes a lot to the realisation that it's not about me any more.
"I've got a child. I don't think it will sink in for a while as it's so overwhelming. And Kim is at home doing all the hard work - it's been hard to adapt and be back on the road."
