Sir Paul McCartney has signed up to headline Queen Elizabeth II's upcoming Diamond Jubilee gig, according to a UK report.

McCartney signs up for Jubilee gig

The British monarch celebrated 60 years on the throne on Monday (06Feb12) and she is set to continue the celebrations into the summer.

Plans for a pop concert at London's Buckingham Palace in June have been in the works, and the Beatles legend recently revealed, "I'm a big fan of the Queen... If I get asked I could easily do it."

The Sun now reports McCartney will sing at the gig, organised by Take That star Gary Barlow - who has been courting the veteran musician to perform.

A source tells the publication: "He (Barlow) laid it on thick, telling him he was the only man for the job."

Other musical acts reported to be on the bill include Sir Tom Jones, Dame Shirley Bassey and Jessie J.
