A representative for Sir Paul McCartney has confirmed the rocker was briefly hospitalised after falling ill with a virus in Japan this week.
The former Beatle checked into a Tokyo medical centre after cancelling a series of shows in Japan and his first in South Korea but he has since been released and is recovering from his health scare.
In a statement to Billboard, his rep said: "He will make a complete recovery and has been ordered to take a few days rest."
McCartney said he was "extremely moved" by the messages of support he has received after he was struck down by the illness.
The singer hopes to be in good health when his Out There world tour resumes in Texas on 14 June
