The hit programme is being brought back to life on ITV after its successful run on BBC1 over 10 years ago.
The new series will reunite original stars Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson as on screen sisters Sharon and Tracey, as well as Leslie Joseph who plays their friend Dorien.
Willis will play Robson's elder son Garthy in the series, which returns to screens next spring.
Speaking about his new role, Willis said: "I used to watch the show growing up so this is just a dream job.
"I can't believe I'll be working with Sharon, Tracey and Dorien."
Also joining the cast is Quirke's real life son Charlie, who will be playing Willis' younger brother Travis.
The actor will be reprising the role he has been performing in a Birds of a Feather live show which has toured the UK.
He said: "For me, it's great to get this opportunity after playing Travis on the stage tour for the last two years, and its great working with the two girls again and Mum."
