In April last year, she married Prince William at Westminster Abbey in front of a worldwide television audience of hundreds of millions.

Her every public appearance is featured in the press, her fashions remarked upon.

Just days ago it was announced that she will focus her charitable efforts on four organisations - Action on Addiction, East Anglia's Children's Hospices, the Art Room and the National Portrait Gallery.

She will also volunteer with the Scout Association.

Daily Mail's columnist Quentin Letts says: "She's behaving with tremendous dignity, that's what comes across.

"She conducts herself as someone who has been in the public eye a long time. It's very difficult to understand how challenging it is to be in the public eye."

Asked whether comparisons might be drawn with how Princess Diana was treated, Quentin Letts said: "Lessons have been learned and not just by the Palace."

"Lessons have been learned by the media as well. Fleet Street particularly is on best behaviour at the minute because of the Leveson Inquiry. She is not pestered by the paparazzi as might have been the case."
