The Twilight star was hailed for her fashion sense in the annual poll by Glamour magazine after giving herself an image make-over from "awkward teen to style queen".
The actress also topped the best-dressed couple list with her Twilight co-star and rumoured boyfriend Robert Pattinson.
Last year's best dressed woman winner, Emma Watson, dropped to second place, while former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham climbed 12 places to third.
British royal Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge was in fourth place, with singer Florence Welch rounding out the top five in the poll compiled by Glamour magazine readers.
