Kasabian to play Belfast date

Fresh from their triumphant headline set at this year's Glastonbury Festival, rockers Kasabian have announced they will play a date in Belfast.

The band will take to the stage at the Odyssey Arena in the city on 9 December, following a gig at Dublin's O2 the previous night.

The Maccabbees are confirmed as special guests for both dates.

Kasabian wowed crowds at Glastonbury on Sunday, closing the festival which also saw performances from Dolly Parton, Arcade Fire and Metallica.

The Fire hitmakers entertained revellers with tracks including Club Foot, Empire, Shoot the Runner, and a cover of Gnarls Barkley's Crazy.

Frontman Tom Meighan spoke movingly of how the band first played Glastonbury ten years ago in an early afternoon slot on a remote stage, and he thanked fans for helping them achieve headline status.

Tickets for Kasabian live at Belfast Odyssey Arena go on sale from Friday 4 July at 9.30am.
