Drafted in to help Dev Alahan in his quest for fitness, Kal soon begins to build strong relationships with many of the Corrie residents, for better or worse.
"It feels great to be joining Corrie," said Jimi in behind-the-scenes footage.
"I didn't know quite what to expect, but everyone is absolutely fantastic, it is like one big family.
"To be on the actual cobbles is fantastic. Of all the things I've done this is one of the highlights I have to say, it's been really good."
Kal's arrival is prompted when Gary Windass sees Dev struggling with his new fitness regime and he knows just the person to help him out.
The pair are put together on screen and produce some "quite funny" scenes for viewers.
"They get on very well," explained Jimi. "They've got the instant rapport and they understand each other.
"I think you might well see him striking up different relationships and friendships, and friends and foes maybe, so I'm looking forward to that.
"He's not afraid to speak his mind; he says how it is most of the time which might rub a few people up the wrong way.
"But he is a good guy.
"There's gonna be a lot of fun and exciting things to come in the future."
Coronation Street is on UTV on Wednesday and Friday from 7.30pm.
