The funnyman wowed the BGT judges with his comedy routine, which included impressions of Simon Cowell, Declan Donnelly and Alan Carr, but he lost out to illusionist Darcy Oake and vocal group Collabro during the first live semi-final last week.
Jon said he was "on top of the world" after being given a second chance by the judges.
"I thought I was in with a chance but there were so many strong contenders for the wild card," he added.
"I thought Bailey (McConnell) had a good chance - he is hugely talented. Also Light Balance, Innova and Jodi (Bird)."
He may have only three days until the final, but Jon admitted he has been working on a new routine just in case he got the all-important call.
He revealed fans can expect to see some familiar characters as well as a few surprises.
"I've got quite a few new impressions planned for the final," Jon said. "But I'll be bringing out a few favourites too. I'd say the act will be 75 per cent new material.
"I'm actually working for the next few days but I'll be rehearsing too, to make sure I'm 100 per cent ready. I've actually got a couple of gigs. They will give me a chance to try out some new material without giving too much away."
Jon's impressionist father whose footsteps he followed in is hoping to be in the audience for the final.
As well as receiving strong support from his family, Jon has picked up plenty of fans from further afield.
"My dad is absolutely over the moon," Jon said. "He's so made up for me.
"Joe Pasquale tweeted me well done after I impersonated him. I've had loads of comments about my Ant and Dec. That seems to be the favourite."
Northern Ireland hopefuls Innova Irish Dance Company, who came third during Thursday's semi-final, congratulated Jon via their Twitter page, writing: "Congrats to @jon_clegg for being selected as the @GotTalent wildcard!! Very well deserved 2nd chance for such a talented guy!"
