The Avengers stars Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson are to reteam for a new movie musical.

Johansson & Ruffalo to sing in movie

The actress, who has already achieved critical success for her singing voice - thanks to an album of Tom Waits songs she released in 2008 and a 2009 collaboration with songwriter Pete Yorn, will play a struggling singer in Can a Song Save Your Life?

Ruffalo will play the producer who discovers Johansson's character in a New York bar and falls in love with her, according to ExclusiveMedia.

Grammy-winning New Radicals frontman Gregg Alexander is reportedly part of the team creating original music for Johansson to sing in the film.
