Northern Ireland actor Jamie Dornan's representatives have confirmed to UTV that he has become a father for the first time after his wife, singer/songwriter Amelia Warner, gave birth to a daughter.

The couple welcomed the baby girl last month but no other details, including the baby's name or weight, have been given.

A statement to UTV read: "Jamie and Amelia Dornan are delighted to announce the birth of their baby daughter born at the end of November."

"We won't be making any further comment on specifics."

The new parents married in April this year and announced the pregnancy in June.

Dornan, 31, is currently filming the big screen adaptation of the Fifty Shades of Grey novels in Canada.

The much-anticipated film will see the Co Down man star as multi-millionaire Christian Grey alongside Dakota Johnson, who plays timid student Anastasia Steele.

Singer Rita Ora has also been cast to play Christian's sister Mia.

Production on the new film is being kept heavily under wraps, but the novel's author E.L James posted a picture on her Instagram page on Sunday showing the feet of two different people.

The caption read: "Feet...One of them is mine..."

She added: "I'm not allowed to photograph anything else." Before teasing her followers with: "*whispers* Jamie."

The Fifty Shades of Grey film, which is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, is due for release in time for Valentine's Day 2015.
