Jamie Dornan nominated for TV BAFTA

Co Down actor Jamie Dornan has received a BAFTA TV nomination for best lead actor for his role in BBC drama The Fall.

Dornan was nominated for his role as serial killer Paul Spector in the Belfast-based crime series, which stars Gillian Anderson as Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson.The show was also nominated in the Mini-Series category.Among the big names competing for leading actor and actress are Dominic West and Helena Bonham Carter, who are recognised for their portrayal of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in a drama based on the couple's tempestuous life together.Ant and Dec got the nod for hosting Saturday Night Takeaway while the show itself was nominated in the entertainment category.Coronation Street is nominated in the Soap and Continuing Drama category alongside Casualty, EastEnders and Holby City.The British Academy Television Awards take place on Sunday 18 May.Dornan's nomination comes after he picked up two gongs at the Irish Film & Television Awards in Dublin on Saturday.The star of the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film was named Best Leading Actor in a Television as well as Rising Star.The Fall also collected the awards for Best Drama and best Original Score.Wow!
