The Holywood star was nominated for his role as serial killer Paul Spector in the hit crime thriller The Fall.

Dornan was nominated alongside Dominic West, for his role in Burton And Taylor and Luke Newberry for In The Flesh.

The accolade for best actor was awarded to Southcliffe star Sean Harris.

The Fall - which is currently filming its second series in Belfast - was also nominated for best mini-series, but lost out to zombie drama In The Flesh.

Dornan attended the prestigious awards along with his wife, singer and actress Amelia Warner.

He was recently a big winner at the Irish Film & Television Awards, taking home two gongs for Best Leading Actor in a Television Role for The Fall and the Irish Film Board Rising Star Award.

As well as featuring in Channel 4 drama New Worlds, the actor is due to appear in cinemas next February as the billionaire Christian Grey in the big screen adaptation of the Fifty Shades of Grey novel.
