Hundreds of hopefuls turned up to audition as The X Factor stopped in Dublin for the first time since 2006.

Judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh, along with guest judge Kate Perry, signed autographs and had their pictures taken with fans outside the Dublin Convention Centre on Monday.

Cheryl wore a khaki playsuit with black Christian Louboutin heels while US singer Katy Perry wore a glamorous pale blue sequinned dress.

Perry is the latest celebrity guest-judge to stand in for mother-to-be Dannii Minogue, who is due to give birth in July, during the audition shows around the UK and Ireland.

The thrilled singer tweeted on Monday: "X FACTOR DUBLIN!!! Can't wait to spot a star!!!"

Louis Walsh is also reportedly hoping to find an Irish star for the seventh series of the award-winning show.

According to The Star, Walsh said: "I really want the winner to come from Ireland this year."

"This is the seventh series and it's high time."

"The show hasn't been here since 2006. Simon said I better make it worth his while."
