Actor Jeremy Sheffield voted off Dancing on Ice
Actor Jeremy Sheffield is the third celebrity to be voted off Dancing on Ice.

The 43-year-old Holby City actor struggled for speed on the ice and was the unanimous loser of the skate-off with Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies.

After being told he was leaving the show, Sheffield said: "I'm disappointed obviously, but I'm ever so slightly relieved that I'm not going to be in so much pain."

Sheffield, who was told he had "potential" by the judges after being widely criticised for his lack of speed on the ice in his first dance last week, told the audience: "It's still scary, just trying to co-ordinate my feet at that speed.

"I want to be in control, and that's never going to work."

His performance of Stay With Me was criticised by judge Jason Gardiner, who said: "Considering he's a dancer, or used to be, it looks like he's never danced."

Fellow judge Nicky Slater said he was "so frustrated" as he told Sheffield: "The potential for you to do great work out there exists".

Judge Karen Barber admitted the speed was "creeping in" but added the routines were also getting harder.

Sheffield lost the public vote to find himself in the skate-off with Davies, despite neither celebrity delivering the worst performance of the night. He was then unanimously voted off by all five judges.

Davies danced to These Words and was praised by the judges and hosts Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

It was the Olympic swimmer's second time in the skate-off after two dances.

"I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I will just keep trying."

GMTV's Dr Hilary Jones - who stumbled on the ice, but regained his composure and continued his routine - was the only celebrity to fail to reach double figures as he scored 7.5 out of a possible 30.

The highest judges' score of the night went to Emmerdale actress Hayley Tamaddon on her 33rd birthday.

Dancing to You're No Good in a fringe bikini costume, Gardiner said her performance was "incredible" with a "beautiful flow" and "great control".
