The ten contenders for the King or Queen of the Jungle crown had already been divided into two groups and were lulled into a false sense of security when they met up over fruit cocktails.
But that quickly ended when each team was handed a crate containing walking boots for every celeb, a GPS system and instructions for their first task.
That was when they discovered that the two teams had to race across the island to a helicopter which would whisk the first team to find it back to the land of luxury for one more night.
The losers would have to set up camp and stay on the island.
Visibly shocked, both teams set out to ensure they were the ones with comfortable beds for the night - but would Snake Rock, led by super-positive Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, or Croc Creek, led by ultra-competitive boxer David Haye, emerge victorious?
I am never putting myself forward for anything like this ever again.

Unfortunately for former Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan, who is scared of heights, she found herself in the Croc Creek team who were at one stage tasked with crossing a highwire.
And finding herself perched precariously high above the rainforest, she promptly burst into tears.
The Snake Rock team didn't get off too lightly though, being given a time limit to row across a lake.
Westminster MP Nadine Dorries, who was convinced she had a good strategy for the challenge, swiftly took charge.
"I didn't lose my rag, but I think I was direct in what I expected other people to be doing," she said.
Sunday's show also saw the two teams each nominate a celeb to go head-to-head in the first Bushtucker Trial of the series, with the winner securing dinner for their group.
