Emmerdale's Mark Charnock reveals what is in store for Marlon Dingle. (© ITV)
Donna's arrival back in Emmerdale was a surprise for Marlon, but nothing compared to the news that little April is his daughter.
The lovable chef was thrown into a state of chaos as he felt the pressure of dealing with the unexpected situation.
Mark explains: "(Marlon) is scared to invest everything emotionally in a little girl that he barely knows and that Donna could take away from him.
"Suddenly April is on the scene and it just freaks him out, he panics, he can't see what the future could be so he just blocks them both out and he decides he doesn't want anything to do with them."
But Marlon's decision was mainly down to the fact that he doesn't trust his ex-wife not to take his little girl away again.
"It terrifies him more than anything else," admitted Mark.
However seeing Donna and April getting ready to leave for good "panics him into action" and he decides to try to get to know his child - but will it be that easy?
"He thinks the whole thing is going to fall to pieces immediately because April just thinks that he is this idiot," explained Mark.
"What he does then is, hopefully, something very sweet, very heartfelt and very funny to try and win April's heart.
"It suddenly looks like the Donna and April thing is going to fit in perfectly like a jig-saw."
But life never does run smoothly on the Dales, as Mark hints at a surprise in store...
"There's another layer to this story that's going to come to light and throw everything off balance and it will change everybody's lives.
"It's a dramatic right-turn that I don't think anybody is expecting."
Emmerdale is broadcast on UTV weekdays from 7pm.
