Paltrow was talking about finding her true sexuality in a committed relationship when former wildchild DeCadenet agreed that flings and one-night stands are rarely satisfying.
The actress said: "You don't find it (sexuality) (in a one-night stand); it has to be a longer-term situation, where you're completely safe and that's when it starts to reveal itself."
The Conversation host DeCadenet, who was once married to Duran Duran star John Taylor and is currently wed to The Strokes' Nick Valensi, responded: "I totally agree. I would not have known that if I had not..." prompting her guest to add: "...shag everyone".
Paltrow tipped her head back and laughed as her pal said: "And you too, by the way."
The actress then quipped: "Those were the days."
And the interview got deeper as Paltrow opened up about discussing sex with her daughter Apple.
She added: "No one ever spoke to me about anything."
