The concert is not being rescheduled.
The girlband - which features NI songstress Nadine Coyle - reunited for the 12-date tour to mark their ten year anniversary.
Girls Aloud originally formed on the talent show Popstars: The Rivals which aired on UTV a decade ago. They went on to claim their first number one with Sound Of The Underground.
Cheryl Cole, Derry-born Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts will hit the Odyssey in Belfast on Wednesday and Thursday as part of their Ten - The Hits Tour 2013.
However, the chart toppers will now only play one of their two scheduled dates at The O2 in Dublin.
The concert for Saturday 16 March will go ahead as planned. Fans holding tickets for the St Patrick's Day gig are being offered the option to exchange their ticket for another Irish date - or to obtain full refund.
A statement from The O2 venue and promoters MCD said: "Unfortunately, due to unforeseen time restraints with the transportation of production equipment between the Irish & UK tour dates, the extra Girls Aloud concert added on Sunday 17th March 2013 at The O2 has been cancelled. Due to tour routing it has not been possible to reschedule this date.
"Girls Aloud, The O2 & Promoters apologise to fans for any inconvenience caused."
The statement continued: "By re-arranging production requirements, promoters have been able to free up a limited number of tickets to accommodate some fans wishing to attend the band's sold out Dublin concert on 16th March 2013.
"Subject to availability on a first come first serviced basis, fans have the option to exchange their original concert ticket (17th March The O2 Dublin) for any of the band's three other Irish concert dates on 16th March at The 02, or The Odyssey, Belfast on Wednesday 13th or Thursday 14th March 3013, before 18:00 hrs next Tuesday 12th March 2013 from their place of purchase."
