Broadcaster George Lamb is to host a new weekend show on UTV-owned radio station talkSPORT.

The George Lamb show kicks off on Sunday 12 June at 9pm.

It will be on until midnight every Saturday and Sunday night.

TalkSPORT - which scooped the Sony Radio Academy Station of the Year award last month, said listeners can expect sport and celebrity chat with the likes of James Corden, Rio Ferdinand and Boris Becker.

Lamb will also be joined by his old BBC 6 Music partner, Marc Hughes.

The 31-year-old Fulham supporter started his radio career on BBC 6 Music. In 2008 his unique presenting talent was recognised by the Sony Radio Academy as he scooped the prestigious Rising Star Award.

George has a wide experience within TV presenting, hosting three series of E4's Big Brother's Little Brother and BBC3's Celebrity Scissorhands (for Children in Need).

George, son of actor Larry Lamb, also travelled with his father to Namibia for The Parent Trip where they lived amongst the Himba tribe.

He said: "Marc and I are super-hyped about our new show. We both love talking, we love sport and, a la Charlie Sheen, we love 'Winning' so, as you can imagine, we're thrilled to be joining the most exciting thing happening in radio at the moment. Everyone's talking about talKSPORT and it's great to be part of that buzz."

Moz Dee, programme director of talkSPORT and Sony Programmer of the Year said: "George is a real talent, he has a passion for radio and I think he'll be a terrific fit for us. I've seen the line-up of guests that are planned and it's very exciting."

The UK radio station currently has the highest audience in its history at 3.25 million.

The high-profile signing comes on the back of the arrival of Richard Keys and Andy Gray, who joined the station in February.
