Take That frontman Gary Barlow is setting out on his first solo tour in 13 years, stopping at the Belfast Waterfront on 8 January.

Gary Barlow set for solo tour

The pop star, who is also head judge on The X Factor, will perform 16 dates across Britain and Ireland, starting next month and running through until January.

He says: "I'm really excited about these dates. Playing live is my favourite thing and I haven't played a solo show for over a year now. Last year playing two London shows was brilliant, we all had such a good time, so I thought, right, let's get out and see the rest of the country!"

Barlow went solo after Take That split in 1996, and toured the UK in 1999. The band then reunited in 2005 and has enjoyed a string of hugely successful European treks.

The solo jaunt will kick off in Bournemouth, England on 13 November.
