The Fall fans have been treated to a sneak peek of the new series, as the Belfast based thriller returns for a second season "soon".

The BBC and RTE drama stars Co Down actor Jamie Dornan, as serial killer Paul Spector, and former X Files star Gillian Anderson, as DSI Stella Gibson.

The new series will feature six hour long episodes and will pick up where series one left off as Gibson continues her hunt for the fugitive Spector who has managed to escape her grasp.

So far Anderson and Dornan's characters have yet to meet, but their on-screen cat and mouse relationship has led to the huge success of The Fall.

Season two will also include the return of supporting actors Bronagh Waugh, Emmett Scanlan, Gerard McCarthy, Niamh McGrady and Archie Panjabi.

Filming began in various locations in Belfast in February.

In a promotional video for the upcoming run of episodes, Jamie Dornan is seen in a hotel room staring at a seemingly lifeless Gillian Anderson, before cutting to both actors surveying media coverage of Paul Spector's murders in the previous series.
